Our first few weeks back

The first term back in our early years setting has been filled with excitement and exploration as everyone settles in. The children are gradually becoming familiar with their new routines and each other, forming friendships that will blossom throughout the year.

To celebrate the season, we embarked on an autumn walk, where the children collected vibrant leaves, acorns, feathers, sticks, and other treasures from nature. Their faces lit up with curiosity as they discovered the different colors and textures, fostering a sense of wonder about the world around them.

Back in the classroom, the children channeled their creativity into hedgehog painting. Using a fork, they created charming representations of these prickly creatures, learning about their habitats and importance in nature. This activity not only encouraged artistic expression but also sparked conversations about wildlife.

We also had a delightful time making apple crumble with the Thursday group. The children eagerly helped mixing ingredients, exploring textures. Everyone couldn’t wait to taste their creation at home, reinforcing the joy of cooking together.

To enhance our autumn theme, the children crafted leave decorations, using their collected treasures. They carefully used sticky back plastic, creating beautiful collages that now adorn our classroom window, reminding us of the vibrant season outside.

Some of us were very lucky and were buzzing with excitement as a bright red tractor paid us a visit! The children could hardly contain their enthusiasm as they gathered outside to see the impressive vehicle up close. We met the farmer and learned about farming.

Overall, this first term has been a wonderful blend of settling in and engaging activities that celebrate autumn, nurturing both learning and creativity in our early years setting.
