In the enchanting world of early childhood education, where every day is a canvas for creativity and learning, our 2 to 4 year-olds embark on a journey filled with joy and discovery. Join us as we delve into the magical moments our little ones experienced during the seasons of Remembrance Day, Bonfire Night, Diwali and the festive Christmas season. Guided by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), these tiny tots explored the wonders of arts and crafts, tree decorating, and even staged a heartwarming Christmas concert at our church.
Remembrance Day
In the spirit of Remembrance Day, our young learners engaged in activities that fostered a sense of empathy and understanding. Through simple yet meaningful crafts, such as creating poppy art with our hands using vibrant colours our 2 to 4 -year-olds learned about the significance of honoring those who served. Teachers skillfully incorporated age-appropriate discussions, planting seeds of remembrance that would grow with these budding minds.
Bonfire Night
As the autumn leaves fell and Bonfire Night approached, our little artists ignited their imaginations with themed crafts. Finger-painting fiery sparks using toilet rolls allowed these youngsters to connect with the excitement and wonder of Bonfire Night. Under the watchful eyes of caring educators, the children's curiosity sparked bright flames of enthusiasm.
Diwali celebrations
Diwali, the festival of lights, inspired our arts and crafts activity that has set our little artists' imaginations ablaze. This hand-on activity not only stimulated their fine motor skills but also fostered a sense of cultural appreciation.
Storytime Magic:
Immersing our toddlers in the rich tapestry of Diwali stories became a cherished tradition. Through beautifully illustrated picture books, the tales of Lord Rama, Sita, and the triumph of good over evil came to life in our classrooms. The stories served as a bridge between cultural exploration and language development, as our little ones delighted in the rhythmic cadence of the narrative.
Dance and Movement:
To the rhythm of festive music, our tiny dancers swayed and twirled in celebration of Diwali. Incorporating traditional dance moves, the children not only engaged in physical activity but also experienced the joy of cultural expression. Dance and movement activities aligned seamlessly with the EYFS goal of promoting physical development and a healthy sense of well-being.
Christmas Delights
The holiday season brought forth a cascade of joy, and our children eagerly embraced the festive spirit. Armed with glitter, glue, and boundless creativity, the children crafted crafts for the Christmas, baking, playing, listening to the Christmas stories, watching the plays and panto in big school and lots more, turning the classroom into a winter wonderland. The process of decorating the tree became a collaborative effort, fostering teamwork and shared excitement as each child added their unique touch to the festivities.
EYFS in Action: Throughout these seasonal adventures, the Early Years Foundation Stage principles provided a sturdy framework for our teaching approach. By tailoring activities to individual developmental stages, our educators nurtured the holistic growth of each child. From personal, social, and emotional development to expressive arts and design, the EYFS was the compass guiding our little ones through their exploration of these special occasions.
Christmas Concert at Church
Culminating in a heartwarming Christmas concert at our local church, our children showcased their newfound skills and confidence. From singing unusual carols to away in the manger the concert served as a testament to the growth and development these youngsters experienced during their festive journey. Families beamed with pride as they witnessed their little stars shine on stage, and the community rejoiced in the spirit of togetherness.
Christmas Party
The highlight of the party was undoubtedly the parachute play. The colorful canopy became a magical portal, transporting our little ones to a world of imagination and shared joy. Giggles echoed as the parachute billowed up and down, creating a delightful dance of colors. With little hands reaching for the sky and gleeful squeals, the parachute play became a sensory symphony that captivated the hearts of both children and caregivers alike.
Dance, Dance, Dance:
The nursery and school hall transformed into a dance floor where wiggles and twirls painted the scene with infectious energy. Our children embraced the joy of movement, each step a celebration of newfound coordination. Teachers became dance partners, and the room echoed with the joyous sound of little voices singing along to their favorite festive tunes. Snack was enjoyed by all in nursery and our naughty elves left a farewell letter and presents for the children.
Christmas Elf Hunt in the Garden:
Taking the celebration outdoors, our garden became a winter wonderland for a special 10 Christmas elf hunt. Hidden among the bushes and trees were mischievous little elves waiting to be discovered. Armed with excitement and curiosity, our tiny adventurers embarked on a quest to find these elusive holiday friends. Each elf discovery was met with cheers, and the garden transformed into a magical realm where imagination and nature blended seamlessly.
Wishing you all a Merry Christmas! 🎄✨ On behalf of the entire nursery staff, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for all our gifts and for the joy your children bring to our nursery. Their smiles light up our days, and we hope your holidays are filled with warmth, laughter, and the magic of the season. See you in the New Year 💕
